Common questions

Quick answers about dental care in Raipur, including braces and aligners.

Orthodontic treatment (braces & aligners)

What orthodontic treatments do you provide?

We offer braces (metal or ceramic), clear aligners and retainers to straighten crowded or gapped teeth and correct the bite. After an examination, your dentist will advise which option suits you.

What is the right age for braces?

Children can have a check-up around age 7 to 8 so problems are caught early. Most braces are fitted between 11 and 14, but adults of any age can have treatment if their gums and teeth are healthy.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Most treatments take 12 to 24 months, depending on how complex the case is and how well the instructions are followed.

Do braces hurt?

Teeth feel sore for a few days after fitting and after adjustments. Soft food and the pain relief your dentist suggests usually make it easy to manage.

Braces or clear aligners, which is better?

Both work well. Braces suit most cases, including complex ones. Aligners are less visible and removable, but need to be worn around 20 to 22 hours a day. Your dentist will recommend one after examining you.

Do I need a retainer after braces?

Yes. Teeth tend to drift back, so a retainer is needed to hold the result, worn as advised.

How do I clean my teeth with braces?

Brush after every meal, clean around the brackets, and use floss threaders or an interdental brush. Avoid sticky and very hard foods.

Root canal treatment (RCT)

What is a root canal treatment (RCT)?

RCT removes the infected or damaged pulp (the nerve and blood vessels) inside a tooth, cleans and seals the canals, and lets you keep the natural tooth instead of extracting it.

How do I know if I need a root canal?

Common signs are severe or night-time toothache, lingering pain with hot or cold, pain on biting, gum swelling or a pimple on the gum, and a darkened tooth. Only an examination and X-ray can confirm it, so get any of these checked early.

Is root canal treatment painful?

It is done under local anaesthesia, so most people feel little more than during a filling. The treatment relieves the toothache rather than causing it. Mild soreness for a few days afterwards is normal.

How many visits does an RCT take?

Some teeth can be finished in one or two visits. Teeth with heavy infection or several canals may need more. Your dentist will tell you after the X-ray.

Why do I need a crown after a root canal?

A tooth after RCT is more brittle and can crack, especially at the back. A crown protects it so it can last for years.

What can I eat after a root canal?

Wait until the numbness fades, then eat soft food and chew on the other side until the crown is placed. Avoid very hard or sticky food.

What happens if I delay or leave the root canal incomplete?

The infection can spread, causing swelling, abscess and bone loss, and the tooth may finally need extraction. Please complete treatment and get the crown done.

Does a root canal make you sick or is it unsafe?

No. The idea that root canals cause illness is a myth. The procedure removes infection and is a routine, safe treatment.

Tooth extraction & wisdom teeth

When does a tooth need to be extracted?

When it is badly broken or decayed and cannot be repaired, is loose from advanced gum disease, is an impacted wisdom tooth causing pain or infection, or must be removed to make room for braces.

Is tooth extraction painful?

The area is fully numbed, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Some soreness afterwards is normal and is managed with the medicines your dentist prescribes.

How long does recovery take after an extraction?

Most people feel better within a few days, and the gum heals over one to two weeks. Wisdom tooth removal can take a little longer.

What should I do to stop bleeding after an extraction?

Bite firmly on the gauze for 30 to 45 minutes, keep your head raised and avoid spitting or rinsing. If bleeding continues, call us on 6232263123.

What is a dry socket and how can I avoid it?

It is when the blood clot is lost from the socket, causing severe pain a few days after extraction. Avoid smoking, straws, hard rinsing and touching the area. If pain increases after 2 to 3 days, contact us.

Do all wisdom teeth have to be removed?

No. Wisdom teeth that are healthy, fully erupted and easy to clean can stay. Removal is advised when they are impacted, decayed, repeatedly infected or damage the next tooth.

Should I replace a tooth after it is extracted?

Usually yes. A gap lets neighbouring teeth drift and makes chewing harder. Options include an implant, bridge or denture, which your dentist can discuss with you.

Can I get a tooth extracted if I have diabetes or high blood pressure?

Often yes, but please tell us about your health conditions and medicines, including blood thinners, before the procedure so we can plan it safely.

General dental questions

Where is Ekadanta Dental Clinic located?

In front of the IOC petrol pump, Dal-dal Seoni, Mowa, Raipur (C.G.).

What are your timings?

Monday to Saturday 11 am to 8 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm. For emergencies or outside these hours, call 6232263123.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Booking ahead saves you waiting. Use the form on this page or call 6232263123. In an emergency, call us right away.

Do you treat children?

Yes. We offer gentle children's dentistry, including check-ups, fluoride, sealants and cavity care.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

Every six months is right for most people. Your dentist may suggest sooner if you have gum problems.

Does scaling damage or loosen teeth?

No. Scaling removes tartar that was already irritating your gums. Teeth may feel a little loose or sensitive for a few days as the swollen gums settle.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Dental X-rays use a very small dose of radiation and are taken only when needed for diagnosis.

What should I do in a dental emergency?

For toothache, rinse with warm salt water and call us. For a knocked-out tooth, hold it by the crown, keep it in milk and come to the clinic within an hour. For swelling with fever, seek care immediately. Call 6232263123.

Are bleeding gums normal?

No. Bleeding usually signals gum inflammation from plaque and tartar. Regular brushing and a professional cleaning often fix it, so get it checked.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Professional whitening done under supervision is safe. Temporary sensitivity is common and settles within a few days.

I am scared of the dentist. What can I do?

Tell us. We explain each step, use local anaesthesia so you feel comfortable, and pause whenever you ask.

How much will my treatment cost?

It depends on your diagnosis and the treatment chosen. We give you a clear estimate before starting, so there are no surprises.
